Childhood/ Early Career:
Ogden Nash was born on August 19, 1902 in Rye, New York. He was raised in Savannah, Georgia. His family moved a lot for his father's business. He attended St. George's School in Newport, Rhode Island. After he graduated, he went to Harvard University, but he dropped out a year later. He later went back to teach at St. George's School. He then became a salesman and went into advertising. He married to Frances Leonard and had two girl, Linell and Isabel. He wrote many poems about and for his children. In 1934 he moved to Baltimore, Maryland and stayed the until he died on May 3, 1971.

Not many event influenced Ogden Nash. He was inspired by John Keats and Lord Byron, who were poets. .They wrote more serious poetry. When he was in advertising he had to write many jingles and what to say. Later, he made a children's book. He loved Baltimore sports, so he wrote poems about the team or sport.

He wrote humorous and a comical style of poetry. He did write some serious poems. He would always purposely misspell words and invented words. He was regarded with respect by the literature establishment. In his poems he often exaggerated or used hyperbole's.
